In the previous BLOGS I identified the first 5 of the 6 descriptive characteristics for the “beast” of Revelation 13. Today we will cover the final characteristic.

Test # 6: Descriptive Characteristic, “on each head a blasphemous name.” Throughout Scripture, blasphemy was one of the gravest of sins. To blaspheme is to make light or sport of the name and sovereignty of God. To misuse His name in any way that is not marked with a sense of awe and majesty is viewed as blasphemy. Jesus was condemned to death by the religious leaders because they claimed He misused the name of God by declaring who He was, therefore, blasphemy.

In describing the superpower in Revelation 13, John prophesies that the leadership position of our government will misuse the sacred name of God. Each area of our world leadership will use the name of God irreverently in carrying out unrighteous acts. Our government officials will promote a worldly cause while claiming an association with the name of God. This would be considered blasphemy by Scriptural definition. We easily pass this sixth test the Lord gave in Revelation 13:1 to identify this “beast” or superpower in the Last Days.

If Revelation 13:1 had been written in contemporary English, it might read something like this:
And I saw a world superpower develop in a new country made up of people from many nationalities. It influenced other powerful nations throughout the world; it held a position of leadership in every area of world affairs, although it did not try to rule politically other countries. They were allowed to govern themselves. It used the name of God freely and irreverently in many of its worldly activities.
In my book, You Are Salt & Light, I cover each of these descriptive characteristics in Revelation 13:1 about the “beast/superpower” in more detail. I also discuss each additional verse in this chapter. For any nation to be identified as this superpower, they would have to meet every single word or phrase given in Revelation 13. We do, and no other nation comes close.

Ever since the Holy Spirit inspired me to research both Scripture and history to confirm the identity of this “beast” in Revelation 13, I have found nothing that would diminish this prophetic truth. Everything has confirmed it! There is nothing in Scripture and nothing in who we are as a people that prohibits the U.S. from becoming a backslidden nation. Recall, Scripture makes it plain; the Jewish nation became so deceived by this clever enemy, Satan, they totally missed the incarnation, when God became man and visited planet earth.

Has Satan again, masquerading as an angel of light, used deception to fool huge numbers as he did the Jewish nation at the time of the first coming of Jesus? That would certainly fit his character as he has always tried to destroy anything God raised up. Why wouldn’t the country that has been the center of Christianity and referred to as “Christian America” be the area he has his sights set on as we near the second coming of Jesus?

One of my repeated prayers is that the American Church will know another powerful move of God’s Spirit that will bring about an era of holiness and divine protection.

My objective in sharing this information is to provide a Scriptural and historical understanding that will help motivate you to build your spiritual ark of protection for you and your family as you prepare for the days ahead. This will also help preserve Christian values in America regardless of what society does.

In my next Blog I will point out a prophecy made in Revelation 13:7 about the success of this “beast’s” warfare against Christians in these Last Days. I will also discuss two other prophecies from Scripture that reveal the key methods and tactics of deception the enemy has and is using against Christians in America that have given him this success.
